Mr. B and me my new friend

Second day with Beau is a lot better. He was out now in his paddock, Kristin fixed it.

It was nice to see Kristin, I talked to her first hing, asked her about the her rescue of Manny. She said she knew the lady and it was a easy adoption. I let her know I was going to work with Beau and also had an adoption application in at NEER. She wished me luck. She was happy that I was working with Beau.

There was a big to do about NEER wanted to visit Greenwood facility. I had to tell Krystyn and Bonnie about it, got an email. Krystyn said its ok.

15 min later Bonnie called and asked to cancel the visit, I sent a note back to Cindy at NEER Barn Manager to cancel. Cindy answered in the morning thanking me and knowing the reschekule.

It got them really motivated. There's a plan to fix Beau, rehab him.

The whole time Have been telling Patty and Krystyn hat I need a horse that I can work with, with trust bond and a relation sip.

Beau is a quarter horse 1/2 Quarter horse 1/2 Thoroughbred horse. Pretty exciting.

The American Quarter Horse, or Quarter Horse, is an American breed of horse that excels at sprinting short distances. Its name is derived from its ability to outrun other horse breeds in races of a quarter mile or less; some have been clocked at speeds up to 44 mph.

This is Beau's family and races, he is registered quarter horse

Kerri will do an eval of Beau: back, hind end, feet etc he needs to have a plan to get fit.

Krystyn said that Kerri said Beau with managed pain meds Beau could do walk trot trails and could be workable. needs provicox. His feet are not straight, Ill need to talk to Dave and get him straight. June did his front feet, Krystyn said hell need shoes maybe in the front.

His back needs to be looked at, he needs to get fit.

Krystyn said, he can't work in the arena in circles round and round its not good for him.

Drama at the barn

After I left the barn, Patti told me the alpaca died, she curled up lonely and sad because her sister died and the goats were just not as loving as needed. Poor sweet thing, she went to heaven with her sister.

then

The trip to Crowleys was not a success for the a new horse for replacing Nellie.  But a nice buyer came and is going to take care of her forever. I am relieved she needs a loving family like that.

but that's not my business.

Beau - Greenwood 16 hh bay needs a person

Looking to try something that Patty had suggested back in Aug.

Although I was not in tune with how it could benefit me, I soon thought about it more.

Krystyn had done a great job sending horses private sales and also giving me info on some of her sources for new horses. I had this horrible feeling having to make a decision on Ratchet at Whitmore's. I could barely deal with a small amount of time to decide on a new best friend. And then going to Chipaway seemed like a nice place on the cape about an hour plus from home. But what if I also fell of ra

There were sales of trail horses ,all ver small 15hh and a bit more.

Thorughout the whole time there has been almost every option run through my head, with all of this unrest, poor Nellie has been ridden hard and now is looking for a forever home. She barely made it though with her situation at Greenwood. I always wanted to be kind to her but there were all these restrictions on her. It was truly difficult of rme to see her next to Duke and not give her apples, cookies etc. IT was not a situation that I Liked especially riding a poor sweet lady like that on a mid 90s day at 1pm honest time catering across the field in the hot sun. My heart was truly aching for her. Anyway Bonnie called and said that she was the horse for me but I know she is a Childs horse, very small 14 hh no business as mine but nice to be asked.  From there its Crowleys but I was asked but at this point I think it would overwhelm me. Great opportunity to get a trail horse but it may be the wrong fit of rme. I am not a drive by best friend. We make jokes that I am in he date phase. There is something to that statement.

I had a relationship with Duke, for about 11 years, riding him, leading him 2 years and then buying him and moving him to Greenwood. When he moved to Greenwood, as his bones ached and his teeth were ground down, he settled into his forever. But as it was his forever wasn't as long as it was dated in my head. The vet and the dentist let know that he was older than I was told. He died he was I his 30s. My beautiful senior boy.  He was the one.

So dating phase, this is a bond that will start out slow and then grow. If Beau is going to be a potential friend of rme, I need to ge tot know him.

Also asked Krystyn point blank what was wrong with him, why does he not ride, what ar etc limitations etc. She said she actually did not pursue it. She and Kerri ran into a snag in finding out what was next.

I asked Krystyn to find out with Kerri and I would consider him if it could work. she said great because she actually thinks he was a mistake and if we could make good, then well lets try.

So I want to be the guy for this guy Beau, give it a try <3

Today we are meeting up for our first get together to hang out. Lets see how it goes.

Bentley or Simple Punch thoroughbred Potential adoptee

Had a very enlightening experience over the past 3 weeks. I filled out an adoption application for this sweet horse Bentley. I thought that it may be a nice move for me, like Duke he is educated and I would be dedicated to his welfare as a rescue and rehab. He had a life as a race horse and then as a jumper that was not properly cared for during his professional time. His owners did not give him the proper support when he was over worked for competitions in jumping. this lead to his injuries and then the difficulties in healing. NEER has had him in rehab also since 2019, over 3 years at a foster home. It seemed like a nice place for me to come in and help. With Krystyn being very supportive with my thinking and willing to help in every way I felt like this is something I could work.
Last week, there was an update that Bentley's progress and that he would need an intermediate rider to own him. Patty sent me a text, I believe she is getting a kick out of the progress and different ways I have been recovering from losing Duke and also working on seeing If I can make a transition to the next horse for our family.

Looked at some horses at the 4H shows but did not dig into any sales. Then I checked out Whitmores little dun that I fell in love with, Kerri was thinking it may not be healthy enough for a long term relationship.
It was heartbreaking.  Then this guy shows up, I was dreaming of what it would be like to work with a professional guy, easy going and also at our barn he would fit in. Patty talked a lot to me about what it would be like, that the thoroughbred's Run Hot. Seems like I could manage . . . I thought about working in the arena, taking lessons, getting into horse riding shape, really would be exciting.
I put in my application and started dreaming of this guy as my friend, spending time to help him out too. It was exciting. He was big like Duke, 16.2. Duke was 16.3. Looking that up its 5'7" my height. Duke was perfect of course.
Well Patty called me and let me know there was an update on the NEER site that he was progressing but required a more advanced rider to adopt.
I was on board with their decision so that its the right fit for him and his future.
