Wednesday Meet up with Erika, Kyla and Nick

 

Mid 80s humid, buggy, Beau had a sore front leg + barn drama

 I texted back to Patti I was on the way it was like almost 1pm. As I pulled up Bonnie was talking to Kristin Mc as she packed up trash into the little truck they are using. I sat in the car and got my stuf together. It was mostly an apple, 2 applesauces. Not too many snacks, but I was still thinking that I can still work him and just really share my apple <3. It worked. He was sort of favoring his left front leg.

I went out to his paddock and he was ready to come in, he speaks to me with his sweet horse voice. Hes grumpiy going out there. I had a hard time opening the gate, its weird who ever put the chain on made it really tight so there is no slack. I struggled with it. Finally got it unlatched, and Beau was happy to help me  with the gate and get out to the long buggy grass where he would graze.

He looked like he was not going to be a good listener, he tripped on the way out.of the paddack, he grazed aggressively but stil was we walked he listened. 

He was doing pretty good. Patty had taken Sienna and was giving her.a bath,  Aurora was fully dressed, in riding clothes.  She had brought in Rowan and seemed to be trying to tack him up and work him sort of quickly. 

I was doing some walking with Beau because he wasnt doing  as well as other daysl. I heard lots of bumping from her in total about 3 times there was a loud sound and then you could tell that Rowan was moving around abruptly. At one point i saw aurora strike hin on his face. I know that there is no need for that. When I saw that she seemed to have no control over what was happening

She struck him in the face. he seemed to rear up a few times.

I told her if she needed anything to let me know. she said she was good.

than I saw Rowan act uncomfortable with her actions.

i did see her strike him. I thought that maybe she should have gotten out of the barn.

Every time she had an altercation. Beau jumped and was upset by there interactions.

I was starting to fee  uncomfortable with her working him this way, too harsh

Then on the 3rd altercation, I heard the big band ad he was reared up after ther interacton

I was very disappointed and did not go hear her.

She was very update, said she hated him adn thathes going on the truck.

It is really sad.

I saw him rear up and break the cross ties off, aone of those clips was on th cross tie and he was qlso tried by his leqad line that Auroroa put as a tie on th emetal on the door fter talking to her later she explained tht he needed the 

Sweet little hummingbird today

 Really special day today at the barn, I was fooling around in the arena with Beau as usual, and I always watch the birds flying around. There are a few differnt types that like to fly into the barn rafters.

Today like any other day, but up at the peak of the roof, there was an especially small bird with a strange shape. I stopped what were were working on and started to study this small bird. I figured out that with the small beak like that is was a hummingbird, what the heck. she was trying to get out of the barn by flying against a roof window. I saw that she was wrapped up tight with lots of extra cob webs from the barn's interiors.

There was a small 3 inch materials hanging from the hummingbird. I felt really bad, I showed Patti the place in the barn where the bird was bumping over and over the windows.

I was fortunate enough today to hold a little female hummingbird in my hand as she was tangled in some debris at the barn and fell from the rafters as Beau, Patti and I were watching her.

She let me help her, untangle her from the tight wrapped string like materials and released her into the air from my hands.

it was an amazing experience.

She was trying so hard. I got back to working with Beau, I imagined if I hopened the big back sliding door that the hummingbird would see the light, feel the breezes and head out. I was not as worried as I should have been.

I kept looking at the barn rafters.  Noticed that she had coem to the edge maybe starting to try and get out another way. 

I was wrong she was totally wrapped up tight and was giving out.

She dropped suddently to the wood endge, I ran over to her and Beau stayed in the center wondering what was going on, he slowly followed me after a while to see what we were doing.

I saw that she was really frail and breathing heaving, it was scary i thought she may die. She was wrapped up and also the 3 inch piece of maerial like cob was almost tied to her leges and bodiy. If I had pulled a bit it was going to pull her legs off. And there was amost a line with strenth tied around her body, her wings. hwas completely tangled in a strong string like web. The strands were extra thick.

I took my fingernail and started to sort of cut away at the dangling materials from her tail. i took off about 4 different pieces to try and get most of it w/o her being hurt.

I started to see her face, she was scared, but saw I was helping her. At first I had a small cone on her so she would not fly away, then I realized she really could not too weak and took tied up.

after getting most of the webs off of her, and using my nail to cut throgh the web string that was tied sort of around her whole body including wings.

I cupped her in my heands and went to the big door to try to release her.

I gently moved toward the ground to set her on a plant.
she fell a bit and I noticed that although she was roughed up, her wing were completely intact.
I lifted her up again and tried to see if she was strong enough She tried her wings and popped up out of my heands, so beautiful, 

flu up into the sky and away quickly, seemed amost strong. I prayed she got some nector soon.

Tornado warning day 3pm visit

The day was crazy and we were not sure that we woudl even go over because the weather was so dangerous.

At around 330 it looked ok out and I texted Patti to see if she wanted to meet up.

She was finishing up soem work at her house then gonna meet up.

 Just a short post, so late going to barn, it was so wet out pouring rain

I was able to get the big guy into the arena, June was setting up but she didnt look like she was going in.

Sienna had gone already.

By the end of the visit. I did not go out to the mare's paddock today, w went over to the green grass to get some good grass. 

Sat Late in the day, so hot/humid

• Beau had lots of debris on his back, he looked up and sort of smiled at me. There was tons of hay in the ailse. I walked around and gave out some snacks and some cookies to the kids in Beaus aile. I had graded up some hay there was so much hay.
• I took Beau out pretty much right away to see if he wanted to go into the arena. He came right away very gently just a slight movement and he came slowly and sweetly thought the hay that was all over the ailse. he only stopeped for a moment to grab a bit of hay.
• The back door was slid closed, and all I needed to do was to put in the wood plank and he was all set to play in the hot barn, the arena was pretty warm and humid.
• As soon as Beau got into the arena he rolled so sweet, he gets up really fast after a roll. We did a funny thing, I got the dressage whip and just held it, he went around quickly 3 times in one direction. then he came in when I asked him, then 3 times in the other driection. I thought iwas over the top for the bad feeling day. He was really a good boy. I thought it would be a great time for a little rinse off outside. 
• We went out front not too close to the ladies paddock. I rinsed him off, sometimes he doesnt move so I can get the other side of him rinsed off.
• Then I went over to the outdoor paddock so he would go in and walk aroud. As soon as the gate was closed Beau rolled in the mud and poop of the mares paddock. So gross then we walked around. I had to rinse him again.
• He cleaned up good. Back in the barn with all the hores
• I brushed out my boy with the cool water that he had on him from the shower.
•  Muck  was a sweet thing, I soaked a towel before I left and brought. it into Muke's stall, I toweled him  rom head to tail with cold water, he was watching me out of the side of his eye as I rubbed him down. Hes such a sweet boy. I also gave him 2 cookies, 2 apple sauces and a few carrots. Hes getting to like me a bitmore. I was not comfortable taking him out by myself for a shower. I did not know who fed them tonight but they didnt give any showeres that I could tell.

Missed Sat at barn, 4th BBQ that was rained out re scheduled SUNDAY

 I felt kinda sick in my stomach for a few hours. Val has stayed over night and I dropped her off at Joeys for a party. We had such a fun time.

Plenty of  hay it looks like they did the big field so the hay is cut back. 

Patty was helping pick up the gY that fell from the hay conveyer.

Dr Katz say Beau looks the best

Tuesay was 4th of July rainin and Wednesday morning was Dr Katz and Beau. I got up got dressed, didnt even work before the appt. I wasnt going to have him checked but I was thinking, while I have the money and hes very happy, its like getting my nails done. Why wouldnt he benifit.  So Kristie wasnt going to have Katz because she was waiting for Kerry so she could tranc Jax, and do his teeth. I thought because Sienna has a bit of an achy hind leg, and Patti was going to be there waiting for Kerry to give Sienna the shot, so she can get her teeth looked at. I figured that since I dont have any issues with Beau, I could just close it up early and then Patti could come over and we can ask if Katz would talk to her about Sienna, maybe arrange something. She needs to have some time getting her bones looked at in the case she is not well in her legs. Shes achey really feeling ouchy.

Katz was beaming over the progress that Beau had said he never looked better for his age he is amazing.

I was delted. Then Patti said that he was talking alot about on how nice Beau was and how he liked him.
