Hangin with the Little Lamb, Tonto and riding with Duchy

Nice day low 80s slight breeze, the 10am was a huge ride.  I didn't want to go and there were few horses.  I waited for the 11am. Ill put one more pics later.

I wanted to ride with Domino today but I think he was resting his foot.  He ended up escaping from the paddock and walked around quickly to come back to the area and be a pretty good boy.

During the morning I spent time with Tonto and with the little lamb.  She was a little bit more friendly today I am glad.

I rode with Duchess on the 11am.  I was a lot smoother than the last time.  I liked how ride today, there were lots of young women that may have dressed like horse riders but were a little rough in the saddle.  They looked nice in the picture at the end but while we trotted they were very slow and wicked bumpy.

Amy and Lexie were on the ride.  When I got there Lexie came walking over I guess Lakota had gotten roughed up in the herd and she was hurt. She and I gave Lakota some love and snuck her a carrot.   Lexie rode Mariah and Amy rode April.  Lexie did great with Mariah but I think that Amy had a hard time with Chiquita.  She wasn't controlled on the ride and Duchess was pretty annoyed during the ride because Chiquita was riding up most of the time, on her rear very close, not keeping the spacing mostly all the way through the ride.  We had nice ride but those guys are getting better on the trail most likely after some of the different horses.
I miss Kanti the  most, she is a truly enjoyable person to ride with.

As you can see this is the classic ride.  We had about 3 short trots.  The ride was pretty large usually we would split the ride but we stayed together.  It made it hard for the back group to actually get a trot in.  The ladies in front of me had lots of stopping with their horses I think because of their experience level and because of the size of the ride.

Great summer Sunday 2014

--Today Kanti gave me a nice piece of advice about trotting to canter.  She said that when you horse gets in a fast trot, it may not be able to change the rhythm to go to canter.  She said that she was told to stop the trot, hold back her horse so that it can begin again and go to the after pace of the canter from a start step.  I thought it was great advice.
First Ride this Sunday we went out on a big one with Sandi and I was able to ride with Barb on a walk ride with Kanti and some new friends.  It was really fun, one of the most relaxing and beautiful rides. A
fter is was very slow and Kanti and I were talking about going out together.  All the leasers and boarders were on the trails separately.  Well Sandi had dropped her lighter and we went out on the trail to find it.  The first ride Sandi said that she was going to take us on a Bob ride. We went over 2 bridges I had never went over with the horses before.  It was so exciting.
When we got back and back tracked she still didn't find it so we took a FAST ride out to look. We went on some areas that I hadn't before, cantering through sand past the little desert and even more.  It was very exciting second ride.  I had wished we had time to go to coffee with Barb after the walk ride but both of us were so exciting to maybe take an additional FAST ride, that we declined.  I hope we get a chance next time because I really like Barb.

Saturday busy day with Duke ST

Almost everyone at the farm.  Got to go on 2 rides both with Duke. I forgot my camera but I had carrots. Even spent a little time with Tonto.  We went out on a quick 25 min at 925.  then went out an a bug ride with Sarah and the customers.  Kanti spent some time with me to make sure I was comforta ble getting Duke ready. She was excited.
The 4 horses Bob had sold were also getting ready to go typo their new home in NH.  The woman Sue and her family were getting everything ready for their trip.  Callie, pixie, Dallas and another nice horde that has pale fur. I wish them luck. The family seems nice.
She had wrapped their legs in colors that match thine new bridles. They seemed end a little tense as they were lined up against the pole in the barn.

Sat., Hung out at the farm,Went on the big ride at 11am,

Ran over in the am on Saturday.  Skipped out Sunday Father's day BBQ. Cassie was there and it was like a standard ride.  I saw that the ride before was a little stressful for the guides so I was happy to have missed it.  Lexie and Amy had gone out on there own. I would have liked to gone with them if I had gotten there earlier.  Kanti send a note that she would not be there until maybe the afternoon.  Barb was taking this week to catch up on her chores and I think I had just missed Laurie.  Lexie wasn't able to ride with Lakota so she had another horse.
Ill upload some more pics later

Keepin with the early mornings, got there at 9am and got out by 930, Amy , Kanti and I

Ill upload more pics later.  I was lucky enough to take a quick ride with Amy and Kanti and then I went out on the 10am with the customers with a large group with James including, Michelle the new girl, Lexie, Kanti, Sandy, Cathy, Anja (she took another horse not Titan).  It was a nice ride and we were able to get in many trots.  I had Duchess and she was good this ride. It felt great to lean back on her for the trots and I could keep my balance better than the last time I rode her.  She was very nice, and Kanti kept Bogie from getting too close.  She is the lead of the herd so needs to be respected.  I like that about her.  On the ride Lexie saw two turtles that i hadn't seem at all.  She has a keep sense.  There was a small turtle that had crossed the trail at the first place where we break off and then during the trot in the same area before the woods she spotted a giant snapper heading into the woods.  Both of the turtles were well of the trail and she spotted quickly during our trots.  I was impressed.
She trots without using  her stirrups.  It is pretty advanced. I think that both her mother and her have gotten pretty good at riding over the past winter.  And Lakota has a nice friend that has been taking care of her (Lexie).  Ill write more later.  Oh yeah it was so funny on the second ride, James was on Duke.  When Kanti gives the kiss sound for Bogie to move, Duke hears it.  He did it in the morning too.  I absolutely loved it.  When she wanted to move (she is a good guide for the trails)  She would, cue the horses from the back with a quick kiss sound and all of them would listen and we would pic ulpl a trot to canter very easily.  I realized that she is truly a great riding buddy.  She has taught me so much and I am going to get her to teach me more.

Anja's horse Titan, he is a nice boy.

Quick little 30min ride on Saturday - Duke, Apache and Lakota too

Great ride with Amy and Lexie.  Took Duke out for a small ride about 30 min.  We went along the trail and down into the woods at the end of the rock wall.  It was a nice loop and we had about 3 chances to trot to canter. When we got to the straight a way he just trotted fast and did not canter.  I think he needed more time to warm up.  Amy helped me get the saddle ready for me.  Seven from the top seems about right on Duke's saddle.  It was a nice ride and I loved being out and getting back home.  Kanti made it later but I missed her.  We got a chance to talk again on Sunday.
I felt like a lease when I was able to ride both Saturday (even though it was a short one it was a great ride.  And then again on Sunday for a short one and then a longer trail ride with a huge group.  Oh yeas it was very nice to ride with Sarah again.
