Quick visit on Monday

Quick Visit 2 hours I guess is quick

Monday - Working on manners its going great

Working on cues and crossties behavior. Working on walking backwards while I am standing facing with him. THis is new and he gets it right away from last week. I know the more we do the better. We will work on walking the road. Heard that Jax might be being sold, its a little disappointing.

Kept Beau on Cross ties for about 30+ minutes, went well

Worked on picking up his feet, he acts a bit strange but tries to pick them up when asked. so thats all I can ask for each time we meet.

They were in today because there was a threat of rain

🌧️

We worked out in mates paddock. We walked around th front and Baer hay barn then went into mates paddock
Beau listened to everything I asked kept his distance did steps backwards

Another great day! Listens like a champ!

I know I dont have as much time but because Patti was going out with other ladies I was all Beau. He liked it. Kristin sent me a note about if I wanted Beau out in the paddock and I thought yeah!  Then she sent me a note back that Sienna was getting a message from Michelle, so Patti did not text me today. I was wondering why. When I got there BEau was in his stall and Michelle let me know how helpful he was by keeping Sienna company during her work. I said, no problem but I would have liked if Patti told me or even let me know yesterday. It was a little strange for Kristin too. All is well because Beau was so happy to see me.

I took him out for a big grass eatin, he loved it so much. and then he did his backwards stuff in the dirt, but hes super distracted with the mares around and all that grass.

I walked him to the end of the driveway and around the back then back into the arena after evenyone left.

He was just amazing the cavesson is so perfect we worked out and I know he would have done more. I wished that I had lunged him but we did some great work anyways. Hes a great listener.

Over at 2pm great backward steps

didnt get over until 2 o'clock today when I got there, June was riding her horse and Patti was in the arena for some reason.

The two horses were in. I think it's because and come in together if they can't be out, I didn't brush bowl. I just put his new filter on connected it and then headed into the arena. We walked a mile and he did a new thing where he stepped backwards and as I was stepping backwards too, so we walk forward and then I asked him to go backwards and I start to count and we're both facing forward and we did 10 steps backwards. We did about 120 steps such a good we went out on the grass after a pick up back from the grass, I put Bo in his stall and he was really happy very well-behaved very proud of him and then I played with the cats and they were so sweet. Grover is back.

He's the old one who doesn't look well doesn't look happy either but he loved the treats and then there's two gray ones one of them is over and the other bargray one here he also loves treats and his skinny black one that I love so much and he was in the office and to talk to Krystyn New came in and they're gonna bring their horse over but they're not ready. They haven't really bought yet but they do like horses and they seem very nice about the name immediately.

Weekend Saturday with Wes and Sunday Mother's Day

The cavesson has made a huge difference between, lunging beau in the big arena and lunging him with a small controlled lead line and hooked to the front of the cavesson halter.
I was concerned with his charging that I ran into over te winter and in March/April. I did not want to stop working with him because of the charging potential because sometimes it was not a problem.

THe cavesson has created a smarll part of our liberty workout into a  controlled part of our fun game, Go Whoah.

The treats are less than before but there is rewards. Him on a halter like this is a big win.

I found this dressage video on cavesson training and then a great one with a western style trainer. It was just what I wanted, no training with a bit, bridle. Purchase the cavesoon its worth every penny.

Went out with him on Sunday to walk around alter in the day and he did good but spooked at the end of the driveway. I need to get him out there. Do walks way more. Hes ready I think.

Dr Katz appt, but Dave showed up for shoes

I decided to do the 830 appt with Dr Katz so I could work with Beau before his appt.

When I got there Dave was 1/2 way through doing his shoes. He seemed overly frustrated with Beau he was yelling at him He had the chain on his head and yanked it a few times. If made me feel a bit terrible. He had dug out the fungus on his hoof and we had hoped it would grow out but it’s not there yet.

Patti took the Katz 830 appt and I can be with Dr Katz for the 9am. After Dave left I was able to go in the arena for a new workout.

We put on the cavasson halter its great. He even changed directions with limited cue, so proud. Katz said that his back went down a bit but he was very strong in all his back responses.

Dr Katz is a great benefit for me usually I can ask questions learn new things.  Beau is always happy to see him.

Sunny Saturday & supplement duty &Sunday rain workout w/Cavasson

Saturday was nice out I didnt have alot of time because I had to go to the NDCR Gala, so I needed to stay for only a little while. Beau was up in his paddock, totally chillin out, I brought him an apple and gave everyone snacks, it was lovely. I wanted to hang out in the paddock like last weekend but realized that I needed to do all the supplements.
Right now hes taking Cosaquin, Previcox, Horseshire for his hoofs, Bug-off for his flies, Magnesium for his moods. Takes a while to make up the little bags, I make 2 weeks at a time. And now I have a really cool drawer to hold the supplements.

Sunday

Missed Patti left that house at 430 or so and got home around 7pm.

brushed out Beau in his stall then moved him to the crossties with the new Cavason halter

When I placed it on him it fit different.

He was sort of unsure what I was doing.

I brought him out and did some brushing, he was sensitive in his hind end on the side.

Even the way he was  standing and acting. He picked up his feet ok but seemed uncomfortable, and picked each one up, awkwardly. Looks like he was needing

When we finally got into the arena, after Kenzi's leaser Leah Beau rolled but did not race around.

I let him chill a little and walked some with him.

We did our exercise, Beau did not seem to be comfortable doing the turns, when I asked him to move sideways he kicked out. I was surprised. It happened more than a couple times.  I didnt ask him any more.

[After I got home I texted Krystyn to keep an eye on Beau to make sure hes ok, and not in pain. Im a bit worried.]

clipped on the lead line and then we walked special special way he was attentive and walked perfectly with me. He has not been that good. I almost think he missed it. He was not comfortable walking sideways, doing the foot over foot in the back. Poor thing

Im going to keep going with him on the Cavesson and get to the point where I can put on his saddle and then lunge him. I know we cad do this.

Also I asked him to come over to the mounting block, and stand he did it perfectly. I imagined that I had the saddle and stepped up to riding again. I need to do this.
