Working out ideas for 2025

 

Get him to walk up to the step stool with me with the lead line and the dressage pointer

Getting him to put his foot out toward me

Walking sideways

Stepping up on a strong pallett

Teach the horse to walk ahead of you with steps

Use  hula Hoop to hold in front of Beau and put a treat through the middle so he puts his head through

Use the dressage point to get your horse to move his butt away and toward you.

 take the bit and bridle and put a snack in it and walk forward so that hes putting his head into the bridle for the snack.

Use a rope around Beau's neck to steer him left and right

New Years with Beau, quiet just us

 Its really cool because, I did not really have anything to do except clean up from Xmas, watch TV nothinng stressful finally. 2025 could it be good?

Queit afternoon with the Turkeys, cats and Beau. Cleaning tack, stretching him muscles, staying warm in the barn. Sweeping up the ailse.

This year 2024 in life I was able to 

• Get Beau to pick up his feet by just tapping him
• I accomplished this by working in his paddock with him inn the fall, using the lead line around his ankle, it seem to make him aa little ashamed and then up in the paddock we worked on some basics together, not the arena.
• Realized the Beau loves his paddock, except during very hot summer buggy times.
• Lost the ability to do a round up in the arena
• Seems like Patti was at the barn, Beau will sort of show off when I am with him so that she stops over and looks at him. I think he really appreciates her and wants to show off for her sometimes.
• recognize the behavior in the arena
• There have been times where Beau will act aggressively with his body, sort of no respecting myspce. I have responnded by keeping safe and feeling like he wants to push me around
• this has eaten away at my confidance with him. I will stop our fun interctions ndput him in his stall. not sure if this is the best response but it keeps me from doing stomethig stupid.
• Got a new helmut, inexpensive and purpple tool I love it
• More relaxed at the gate since I was shoved
• Sprained my ribs weith Beau crashing the gate with Val Watchinngn
• Was able to take Val to one of the 4H shows where she really enjoys, I didnt get to the big show but maybe next year, fall
• Another Equinne Affaire with Valerie, she was. able to participate in the Kids Rodeo :)
•  Visualize me riding Beau but nott there, might start to work with him and a bit.
• Looking to start working with him in the arena with the bit
• Honestly I hate putting a bit in his mouth ever.

After Christmas Good visit, did our supplements, worked out

 Visiting Beau after Christmas we worked out in the arena but after some time, he becomes sort of too pushy. He stops listening and acts like hes goingto corner me.

He got anxious again, so wierd really, I thoguht I would work out with him and he got really anxious in the arena and its hard to explain really.

I thinnk that I set it off. We will be working out doing his favorite exercies,  which he loves he'll wnt to do his exercises, backing up walking around pickig up snnacks. hes great t working on his bandana tricks, hes trying to pick it up. its very nice. Then he will act sort of like cornning me. I feel over whelmed about his agrressions. If I continue to wortk wthi him he will begin to sort of work with me to running, excited and at some poinnt if I donnt stop, he'll begin to jump or lunge toward me. Its weird.

I dont like it, I think its better to work with him outside if I can

It doesn always happen.

Lyn popped in to check on August, she brought her some snacks, she was quick in and quick out. I let her know tht my kitty wssnnnt well and I had to be at the Referral Hospital in Woburn. 
She gave me some advice on food, to buy the meat at Market Basket
She ended up coming in, doinnng soem chores with August and going in andn talking to Siennna and then leaving prett quickly.

I was there doinng my chores so 

New Hay from Metheum I think. They said they had to buy 150 bales becasue Greenwood didnnt do a good job with the drought and getting hay.

I was putting together Beau's supplements, I know I had to get them becasue I may not get back again before or after the holidays.

I went into the storage area where I put his supplementns in the drawer,

There were only 6 bags empty for me to make more supplements. I grabbed the bags and had brought Beau in so I could sit with him, and do his supplemennts. The whole time I was filling up the 6 bags I was in my head talking badly about how the staff feeding could be trhoughing the bags away making it hard forme.I thoguht that the people feeding would appreciate that I put together the bags to make it easier for them. So I am thinking how innconsiderate they were. Blah Blah Blah negative thoughts.

Then I was getting ready to leave, I decided to put the shoe pick into the little pink stool I sit on to do his supplements, I open. it up, its filled with the remainder of the plastic bags right were I had left them last weekend. Im the inconsiterate one that didnt put the bagas back.

Well we will be walking, starting our routinne and he'll suddenly in the arena, get sort of anxious, put his head up and downn and act like he wannts to sort of herdme. He will stop responding and then he .

This week was tough, Sammy was very sick and home and I didnt want to be away for too long.

Someone gave all the horses a snnack it was so nice, 

I swept the ailse clean so cute there is a flock of turkeys that keep coming to the barn very beauitiful.

I've been feeding the cats, when I pull up, they come out its pretty cool.

Really cold, windy sunny but frigid

 Beau was outside, he looked happy ennough, as soon as I got there I wante to take him in

Just too cold.  I did not do supplements, did nont leave xmas cards, or gifts

onnoly exchanged with Patti, I had a lighted arrangement form Griggs Farm, she likes it.

I gave the kitties many portions of cat food, it was so cold, I was scared for them.

I wennt up to the paddock, got Beau pretty quickly andf marched down the hill into the arena, andn let Beau run around as soon as I could put up the rail.

Really strange thing, Beau was very very excited in the arena, Ah-Leah was on the cross ties with Patti as I was at the rail with Beau.

He did te stranngedst thing, he was using the rail with his teeth, I tell him to stop.

He did it a few times, I have seen him do it before. I triy nont to yell at him for goofy stuff.

Then while he had my attention, he jumped up or reared up like he was gongn to jump the rail.

He looked very close to being able to make the jump too.

It was a first but it makes me feel funy iwth him. I wish I could trust him just a little sometimes.

When I brough him into the arena, walked some, didnt want to back up as much as usual but did want to pick up his feed.

I feel a little bit uncomfortable about the not walking with me in the arena.

Ill work on it for his future, but I have visions of riding on Beau, I feel not comfortable because Beau is such a jerky boy sometimes.

Beau hurt his back leg, he is lame poor baby

 Sort of a short visit today 2 hours, I needed to do the supplemetns, I had just gotten a new bag of magnesium for him. There were 2 bags of supplemennts left. I was able to fill out 12 ore for a total of 14 or 2 week worth.

I went up to the paddock took snacks, crop bandana and some other items. He did ont rush to the gate, honestly I thought it was strange. I climbed over the fence, 

Here Beau is lifting his leg for me to see that he cannot do his exercises that he is so proud to do. Im so proud of him communicating to me. Also hes in pain, he walked so nicely and patient. I didnt want to think that he was lame but I could see the difficulty he had trying to move sideways and not at all backwards but he tried.
Plus he is a great hoof picker upper. totally different than just a few weeks ago. Im so proud, yes I used treats but really its totally ok. 

So cold, fed the kitties my wet food frozen,  and they came running, so cute. I hope they know I love them and am worried for their safety, there are so many coyotes in the field.

Beau was happy but was dearling with his injured leg,  I did not really know until we went to do his the sets of 10 backsteps exercises which hes so good at, and he did not want to back up the steps. Usually that is an ok thing I just waited. He was in pain.

I worked on his picking up his feet, hes so good at that now. Hes trying alot. I just tap his upper leg 2 times andn he lifts his hoof but this time it was different. I liftred his first one, so beautiful then the other front hoof, no problem then the back one on the left and it was easy to lift because it was already up, then when went over to the right hoof, he lefted the left. I saw that his back left was very sort. He was feeling bad.
After that but then I took off his blanket, and brushed him out. He still seems like hes senstiive skin.

So cold, fed the kitties, the wet food was frozen solid, 

Beau was sort of sad in the paddock, after I saw he was hurt, I brushed him and then changed his blanket to the warmer one. We were able to do the bandana trick. There was no problems at the gate, he was happy that I was bringing him in. His hoof was sore so he stayed on the softer ground.
happy but injured leg. I walked around the barn to the front to go in because Patty was working with Ah-Leah and then Sienna. 

He bolted today, but after a very sweet and successful session today

 Crazy day, I was going to spend some time with Raychel and the boys this aSaturday afternoon, so I did an earlier than usual visit, it was great.  The man that helps the Greenwoods at the barn was just going out the from cleaning the barn. He waved as he left. It was just me.  All the horses were out. there is snow on the ground at the barn. Dusty and Muke were in, I gave them both some cookies. Later I gave Muke a small apple. Hes so sweet.

Beau did not really fun too crazy in the arena but he did roll around alot.

Cute guy, but still  unpredictable

When I took him out of the paddock, I had climbed over the fence to avoid the strange gate that just does not open very well and hes a pusher when it comes to running out. Really wish he wasnt doing that again. What if he pushes someone over getting him out? Dont be a jerky Boy Beau

Super cold at the barn, the cats water was frozen solid, makes me sad.

Beau's outside water was also frozen but there was a way to get a little

Started to play again, pick up the bandana, last week's 4 times was pretty amazing. I got him to become much more mouthy but the way he picked up his feet was amazing. Very happy with his changes in picking up his feet at the paddock and the stalls.

Here he is in the frozen ground, not too much sun working on his backward steps, which he really loves and his touch the bandana and pick up the bandana with treats. Im still happy with him except his charging issues at the gate.

Greeted me at the fence so happy to see me. I took off his blanket and burshed him out and did his feet. He's pretty good at picking up his feet now but Im still concerned with the paddock manners.

After a while a new woman who is working out with Joliet was there. She is so nice, she said she was a "chill horse person". I like it her name was Chaivan.

Only an Hour before the trip - Freezin cold

Got to the barn after getting my nails done, hitting CVS the scooted over to Greenwood.

Got Beau from his paddock, he was nice. Patient looking for grass snacks.

Walked him down we did his tricks, he couldnt get enough. He listens pays attention to what I am asking him. Hes trying with me, he wants to work and make me happy too.

No charging, no running ahead of me, listens when I ask him to slow down, wait for me. He trying.

Then loving, hes been so loving trying to be more physical, each week [except for today] I stand at the mounting blck, he tries to help me out He walked over excited to learn what we may be talking about today.

We grazed all the way down the hill, then he did not rush as I turned him in the main,  walking backwards. Yesterday he looked stiff in the back, today Beau trotted up to the barn with me. I started to feel it. I felt the way I did with Duke. I was so happy.

In we went, no rushing into the stall, very loving. I grabbed the snacks, and got his blanket, I ended up using the lightest one, the red one. He was fooling around with me. As I was strapping him in. He kept trying to do his tricks, he was working around the blanketing snaps. He wanted to work with me more.

As I was bringing him in he walked around and started to act funny. I had to put him off. I dont want him to get crazy with me. But I love him putting his head up and down wanting to play with me. getting too close to me. I had to put him to a stop. 

It was a nice 1 hour, I was able to get the cats some wet food and then when they were done, the dish was frozen so I dumped the dishes out. The frozen water was on the bench. I brought the blue dish over to the garage when I saw the cat was watching me. Patty said that they had come by looking for me. <3
