Remember Your Retired Horses | The Chronicle of the Horse

After reading this article, seeing the Live and Let Live Horse Rescue group in NH, rescue so many horses, reading notes about horses being abandoned, seeing the horses around me, I believe that if you own a horse, you should  create a retirement fund for them when they are are no longer able to be ridden and need to be retired. They deserve a life in retirement, in a field with friends, grazing in the sun, mud, grass, wind snow, manure, what ever makes them happy to be rested for their gracious support of you.  The horse, your friend, keeping you safe, teaching you lessons, being there when you come to find them.  These honorable, sweet, generous, magical animals should be taken care of for their dedication to you.

--Create a savings fund for your horse like he/she is part of your family because, he is part of your family.
