11am Ride and some quality time in the Ring -- Best Ring Work Ever!

Busy this weekend, I need to get over to the farm and then home work. It seemed late to be getting him out of the barn.  930?  But he was good. I walked down to the boarder barn and he was there with Jim, Sargeant, Taffy, the other horses. The boarder group must have already got on the trails. I saw there cars.

Choppy Trotter

Duke was choppy on the 11am with Terry but when we got back in the ring he was excellent. On the trail, I wanted to break away and then run him on the straightaway. It was so difficult to pull him away. He is Herd Bound. He loves his little friends. Well I told Terry and Laurie I was breaking away. Laurie said she would go, and when she went to go in front of Duke, I told her, NO that duke had to go first because he doesnt have the experiences as a lead horse. Im not sure if she could really understand. I needed to get him and break him from the over bearing heard life. Well he trotted terrible, he seems off. He drops a step and trips alot. Last time I took him he did really good with Amy. Terry was talking so much with me about my job. We are both Graphic Designers. It was pretty stimulating. Well Duke did great in the ring and then we hung out. I was too tired to get on him from the ground. Im tired.

Good Results In the Ring with Duke

The routine Ive been following is get him, give him an apple  take him out, brush for a while 1-hour.  Then ride, then return and go int the ring and let him graze for about 15min.  Practice mounting with and w/o the step  Then get on and ride the ring about 6 times.  He did such a good job.  Trotting inthe ring better than if he was on the trails.  Ill keep working on him.  Maybe comeing back and riding when no othet horses are around.  

Terry and I talked about riding English and I am very interested.  Id like to get my lsesson in before Equine Affaire.

Anja was going out with Winston, I was so interested in her riding. She likes to go along and explore.

Winston is a great horse.  She said if I wanted to go iwth her I could.  I really wanted to go.  Someday soon Ill go with her and Winston.  Im lucky she asked me.  Seh said that Winston and Duke had played halter tag so Im glad they are friends.
