Really crappy day, again but last week on 23 April it was way worse out just pouring rain and Val and I snuck and got some hay with Patti for the horses. It was pretty fun. Cold out, and no Hay at all again.

Well Beau was so depressed when I opened his door of his stall he put his head down and nibbled some dirty hay. Wow hes sad I thought. He was happy to see me just that he was totally mopey. There was another ladyin the other ailse with her horse lengend, he's.a nice boy but they were soaking his foot, abcess. She was happy she had her husband son and a friend that she said was a vet. I was not feeling like she was a vet. The woman, I forgot her name, was saying that she had gotten a hit in the face actually she pointed to her nose. she said that he kicked her.

I felt bad, Patti had said that. she may have picked up his hoof or tried and it was painful.

I told her the story of how Dr Katz says that before picking up there feet or doing any work its good to take them into the arena or just walking a bit iwth them to warm them up.

Anyway I went into the arena with Beau and found him to be very attentive but just not wanted to run, he ran a little bit on one side then he didnt feel much like doing anything. We walked around alot. t was fun but I was concerned that he was too hungry. I had a ton of snacks so I keep loading him up with carrots, cookies and an occasional.

funny story, Today Beau was slow to come with me, I used a gentle pressure on his halter, like one finger, he responds and it makes me happy.

Anyway, so I take down the plank for us to go into the arena, I put him in and then close the plank, I had forgotten my little crop. I runed around to get it and came back to the arean turned my head to look left and then look right. He was gone. Where could he be, the last time saw him he was right there? I looked and the other plank was on the ground. I ran over and the other people did not see him and No Beau in that ailse.

I walked down calmly because I was a little embarrased, I lost my horse.

Beau had waltzed right into Legend's stall, that was loaded with hay. It was strange no one else had any. Anyway I laughed at him, and was glad no saw what had happened and saw he was stealing hay.

I grabbed him and was laughing.

We went back, he pooped in a new spot, center arena but against the back wall. So funny.

Anyway, it was funny,

Patti put Seinna in the arena and then we got the wheel barrel and grabbed 2 trips worth of hay. Patti likes hte greener stuff she thinks so of it is just stall or even moldry.

Saturday Birthday so Sunday is me Beau's day plus Val too

Sunday, got to the barn, looked like the gator was broken, I thought it would be only me, but there will still doing the stalls, seemed kinda late so I knew the gator was out. I stepped in and asked how could I help.
Then I brought out 3 barrels of horse poop and goat stuff. I knew I had to get finished with helping them get the chores done quick so I can start with Beau.

I wanted to be wtih him, let him roll, run around in the arena canter, trot walk. Do the poles again, I like running with him. Then at 1pm or so I will call Joey to have him drop off Valerie for a visit with the barn, and maybe even get to have her sit on him.

Well I was able to tack him up, after the brush out, foot check and pad saddle and bit.
The part of the bit makes me think its uncomfortable.

I stepped onto the mount ping block and he came right over so I could get on.
I stepped up, put my foot into the stirrup leg over and sat comfortable. for some reason he wants to walk right away.

He doesnt want to stop alot. He needs to be steered for by the one each rein. strange because I am use dto using reining.

I use my foot too. I bump on the left when reigning to the right.
To emergency stop him the advice is, pull one reign out to the side hard.

When we walk in the arena, hes just not as smooth as I expect, hes not as good navigating and he doesnt stop well at all. I know we are getting to know each other but I was hoping for a bit more of a connection riding.
I rode him for approx 5 min, around the arena a few times.
Getting off is interesting, I know that the more that I spend riding and getting ready to ride, its a good physical challenge, even lifting the hay is good stuff.

Joe came by with Val it was really pouring out I got so soaked. Beau was in the arena, exercised, tacked waiting I had already ridden him.

Val had such an excitied look on her face. She came out on the arena, I told her we were going to round pen him together. We took the dressage whip and or my extension crop with hay bail, I told her to point where you want him to run, look at the area and whip from behind to get the horse to go.
she did pretty good. We walked around the arena. Played with the poles.

She walked up to the mounting block and just like he did with me, Beau came up to the block.
She smiled and laughed, he wants her to ride him.
Its so cute.

Rode Beau around in the arena, in a lesson w/Krystyn tonight

tonight I drove into the farm from work, no one at the barn, the doors closed cold out today windy and gray. I got out of my last meeting, chatted with Carla my modeler friend and headed out the door with STeve on on the road to Greenwood.

It was about 445, I knew I had to get Beau exercised first in the arena, stretched out and then tacked up before our lesson. Last night I was remembering how to tack up and bridle the best. I knew that Krystyn would be watching me tack. She was over talking to June because June. has just returned from Portuagal with a trainer. It was pretty exciting trip she posted such beautiful pics. As I was getting my lesson in the arena she was giving Cisco some light untravioloet treatents. June has to wear special glasses. its pretty intense.

Anyway I was alone brushing out my boy getting him into the arena, and making sure he was exercised. He was doing that crazy thing, he wants to poop in th corner. I let him try but he didnt have poop left ha ha. I shewed him away and we got our lunging done.

I quickly got him into the ailse, brushed out tried to check his feet. We got the pad on its a nice one, then gave the crease at the wither. It fit better, then I got the saddle on the right spot. I asked Krystyn to check the saddle she said it felt good. I am alot neater with my ties now. I put the stirrups on the horn, and wrap the billet 2 times before securing it tightly.

then I was confidant to put in the bit. I was able with Krystyn watching me carefully get him on the bit with a gentle positing and I thought he did greatl Krystyn said this was about how he was with her too.

She thinks he's too rough.

I am anxous about riding, I think after I mounting and got alot of coaching on how to reighn him. Hes not a one rien but ore like an english. Krystyn said the previous owner had children riding and even a picture of a baby on him. I am learning he was good with kids. Hes got potential to be gentle.
I mentioned to Krystyn that I belive he will be good with Val and kids and she said that he should be good with thme. Looks like I am going to be ok withhim. He might even be better than Duke with children.

We will find outl

Grass has taken over where the flooded paddock has some questionalble algea water this is good news.

Rode Beau today, Sunday riding in the arena w/Patti

  • Swept up the aisle to clean up the poop and etc for Wes and Raychel
    • Patti always does so much work at the barn, I got a jump on the sweeping but while I was in he arena she was cleaning Beaus stall for us, wow shes so nice
  • Wes and Raychel visited Beau for a few moments
    • Even know it was a short amount of time we were able to visit with Beau and play a little before they left
  • Tried on a new fly mask, black Cashel very nice
    • Found an old one of Duke's fly masks that I bought a long time ago, brand new black, fits Beau perfect
  • Tacked up with saddle, put the pad on
    • Got out the saddle and pad with the bridle. Tacked him up with saddle and pad then brought him into arena and over by the mounting block I easily removed his halter and put on the bridle. Next time Im going to use the molasses. Also put on the saddle pad a bit higher and aslo tuck in the billet and hook the stirrups on the horn. Wrapping up the billet 2 times before making the knot then pulling the left over into the saddle holder for it.
  • Got his bridle and bit on without a terrible conflict. I need to follow some of the techniques. I am gong to keep working on the bit but will be using apple sauce and maybe molasses
  • I asked Patti to help me with Beau, but leading him around with me on his back.
    • Patti thought it was great and had finished with Sienna and put her back in the stall.
    • I was tense and will be shaking out my feelings so that it doesnt make Beau worried.
  • Then Patti and I walked around the arena with me riding Beau, I went 2 times
  • Beau round penned with me at 4 different times in the arena running
    • He went to roll because I had tacked him before the first running in the arena, nexzt time run him then tack him
  • We used the poles and then he and I ran the runs back and forth
    • He ran just fine, we both did
    • He thinks its fun to run iwth me, and I do too
  • Tacked up, next time looking to make sure that I am putting the saddle on with pad closer to the wither, making a pucker in the pad
  • Plenty of snacks
    • back on carrots and oatmeal bars yum
  • Put Beau in the outside mares paddock, he was dumb sniffing poop and took a bite of it.
  • Pooped in the arena, tried to first then didn't have a poop but didn't have any poop yet then he tried it again, funny
  • We grazed in the field and did a short walk to the end of the hay barn.
